Tipperary boss Liam Cahill confirmed straight after the Antrim game last Sunday that Ronan Maher's withdrawal in the first half was precautionary and he did not suffer an injury to worry management and supporters alike.

Maher was withdrawn in the first half of Tipp's comprehensive victory over Antrim in Corrigan Park, and the sight of the talismanic Thurles man hobbling off the field would have given a lot of supporters who travelled to Belfast a shiver down their spines given the amount of players on the missing list through injury at the moment.

But Ballingarry man Cahill was quick to dispel any worries in the post match chat in the bowels of Corrigan Park.

"Yeah I think Ronan is fine," Cahill said with a sigh of relief.

"He just got a bit of a sore knock on the ankle and we’re just conscious with a lot of the games over the next couple of weeks that we have to be careful how we manage fellas, especially with a league semi final to look forward to next Saturday night.

"We came through today relatively unscathed.

"Looking forward now to trying to get as many players back on the field as we can. Our injuries are well documented at this stage with the more established players in the likes of Seamie (Callanan), and Cathal Barrett on the way back; Seamie maybe to a lesser extent.

"But hopefully we’ll have as many players back and ready as we can for the end of April."
